Government playing with us
The BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) standing committee meeting held on Saturday night expressed skepticism about the mayoral election of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Standing committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Nazrul Islam Khan questioned whether the government will ultimately conduct the election.
However, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy commented, “The government wants to give the verdict of Madam during the hype of the DNCC Election.” Begum Zia asked for its explanation. Gayeshwar said, “The date of the election is 26 February.
Meanwhile, the government will give the verdict of Zia Orphanage cases. Therefore, the activists of BNP will remain busy with the elections and thus not get the opportunity to come to the streets. However, the party secretary general feels that the activists will stay in the field at that time and movement and election will be held together.
But Gayeshwar thinks that Movement and election cannot continue together. “According to him, “If they can take Madam in jail, then the defeat of Awami League in the mayoral election will not be considered a defeat at all.” Gayesh said, “The government is playing with us, and making us dance. We have to understand the government`s plan for the survival.” Begum Zia did not make any comment in this regard.
